Series I: The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association
(TSCRA) Series contains records documenting the association's history,
administrative actions, and the southwestern cattle industry in
general and contains three subseries.
Subseries I: Association Records, 1887-2008, consists of administrative records about the organization’s actions. The folders are primarily arranged by subject: directories, financial records, law enforcement, membership records, news and information, and correspondence of former association president Chanslor E. Weymouth. The directories were given to the TSCRA administration and contain brief biographical information about the association’s directors and officers. Membership records contain correspondence, membership updates, and information about members’ brands. The files are arranged alphabetically by last name. The “news and information” folders contain information about TSCRA and the cattle industry as found in magazines, newspapers, and the Internet. The documents were likely collected by Crystal Bryant of the Public Affairs Department, who regularly distributed news information to TSCRA employees.
Subseries II: Publicity Material, 1882-2008, contains printed material to promote TSCRA and the Texas cattle industry in general. The series includes issues of The Cattleman magazine, event programs, brochures, books, and miscellaneous mementos.
Subseries III: Addendum, 1893-2008, contains hardcover books on various Texas history subjects, magazines and pamphlets on Texas history, subject file materials.
