    Important Information

House Bill 2398 [84(R) -2015] mandates the expunction of all Failure to Attend School cases as of September 1, 2015.  Accordingly, all such cases are dismissed as of that date.  No payments, community service or other requirements by the courts or Criminal District Attorney’s Office are due or will be accepted.  The courts are in the process of expunging all records.  This does not change the status of Parent Contributing to Non-Attendance cases.

    About the Justice Courts

The Justice Court is commonly known as the “People’s Court”.

There are eight Justice Courts in Tarrant County. The Justice Court is a trial court for both civil cases (jurisdictional limit is $10,000), and many different types of misdemeanor criminal cases. Your Justice Court Judge also serves as an Administrative Hearing Judge. Each Judge is elected to a four-year term by the voters in that precinct.

Finally, the most common question: Can I still get married by the Justice of the Peace?  Yes. Please contact the individual court for details and scheduling.
