    A native of Graham, Texas, Judge King graduated from the University of Texas and Baylor Law School, then practiced in Fort Worth for 17 years before being elected Judge of Tarrant County Probate Court Number One in 1994.  He has served in that capacity since, being re-elected five times without opposition.

    He has served as Presiding Judge of the Statutory Probate Courts of the State of Texas, as President of the National College of Probate Judges and as a member of the Texas Supreme Court's Judicial Committee on Information Technology since 1997.  He has acted as a consultant to the Connecticut State Court Administrator, The National Center for State Courts and AARP.  He speaks frequently at local, regional, national and international conferences on probate and guardianship issues.
