The mission of Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) is to use our expertise to advance the community's health through accountability, quality and innovation.
Since its inception in the 1950s, Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) has been a valuable local resource by providing services aimed at promoting, achieving and maintaining a healthy standard of living to Tarrant County residents.
Public Health administration is officed at the Dr. Marion J. Brooks Building at 1101 S. Main Street in Fort Worth, Texas.
TCPH offers a scope of services as diverse as the county's population. With a dedicated staff of more than 400 public health professionals and annual funding resources totaling approximately $65 million, TCPH services touch everyone, every day and everywhere.
Veerinder (Vinny) Taneja, officially began as director of
Tarrant County Public Health in September 2014.
Taneja
has more than 13 years of public health experience. He previously
served as Deputy Health Officer and Acting Director of the Wayne
County Health Department in Michigan.
He earned his
medical degree (MBBS) from Manipal Academy of Higher Education in
India, and his Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Eastern Kentucky
University.
Taneja succeeded Lou Brewer, Ph.D., who served as the county’s health director for 14 years. Brewer retired in
May 2014.
Health Equity and Community Engagement
Addresses health equity issues and decrease health disparities in Tarrant County through community assessment, research of best practices, partnering and collaborating with government agencies, training staff on health equity issues and developing programs to support a broadbased health equity movement.
Workforce Performance Management
Provides staff development opportunities to promote staff competencies, facilitates the department’s strategic planning process, oversees and facilitates the department’s internship program, leads the department’s Public Health Accreditation process, ensures maintenance of accreditation status and facilitates the process for reaccreditation.
