    NOTICE - Opening of the Mainstream and Non-Elderly Disabled (NED) Voucher Programs Waiting List - On-Line Applications Only!

    Pursuant to 24 CFR 982.206, Tarrant County Housing Assistance Office (TCHAO) hereby gives notice that individuals and families may apply for tenant-based assistance in the Mainstream and Non-Elderly Disabled (NED) Voucher Program.

    Mainstream:  Any non-elderly Disabled person (head of household or anyone in the household 18 to 61 years of age) currently homeless or at risk.

    NED:  Only head of household, spouse or co-head who is non-elderly (under age 62) and disabled may qualify for this voucher program.


                          OPENING at 12:00 PM (CST) on Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, and

                          CLOSING - when we reach 1,000 applications.

    Applications will be received electronically only (via computer, or mobile device)

    If you do not have access to a computer or mobile device you may visit your local library or you may come to our office and use one of our computers, on a first come, first serve basis:

    PREFERENCES: TCHAO will preference of applicants currently on the 2017 TCHAO Wait List and Tarrant/Navarro County Resident First             

    NOTE:  You must meet the Mainstream/NED qualifications at the time of pre-application!

    PROCESS: Applicants will be contacted via mail, at a later date, to determine eligibility.

    Lease Incentive Program (LIP)

    The Tarrant County Lease Incentive Program (LIP) has received $750,000 in funds from the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). These funds have been designated specifically for new moves, to provide assistance with security deposits, application fees, reimbursement for moving expenses, hard to house fees and hotel/motel extended stays, to Tarrant County renters outside the cities of Arlington and Fort Worth who have been directly impacted by COVID-19. This is a limited amount of money which will be used to serve eligible Tarrant County residents. We expect these funds to go quickly so there is no guarantee of your eligibility or available funding once you apply. For more information regarding these funds please click on the FAQ’s link below.     Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHV)

    Tarrant County Housing Assistance Office (TCHAO) received notification on May 10, 2021, of new Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHVs) and funding as authorized by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). TCHAO received 85 vouchers for this new program. The populations eligible for EHV assistance are: • Homeless; • At risk of Homelessness; • Fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking; • Recently homeless/High risk – loss of financial and supportive services which would result in a return to homelessness or having a risk of housing instability. Tarrant County Homeless Coalition (TCHC) - Continuum of Care manages the Emergency Housing Vouchers through a direct referral to TCHAO. In order to apply for the EHV, potential applicants must complete the Emergency Housing Voucher Form by clicking on the Get Help link below.
