To visiting sales representatives, especially those making their first call, we extend a warm welcome to you!  We hope to make your visits pleasant.  This information will acquaint you with our organization, policies and procedures or special requirements.
Bidding is the process by which competitive pricing is obtained. Bids can be via telephone, facsimile machine, informal written quotations or formal sealed bids. The determination of which procedure is utilized for each request under $50,000 is made by the buying staff in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the Purchasing Agent and approved by the Commissioners Court. All expenditures in excess of $50,000 must be handled by the formal sealed bid process in accordance with the State of Texas County Purchasing Act, excluding exemptions, as defined by the State of Texas, Attorney Generals Office, and interlocal agreements.  See Local Government Code 262 and Tarrant County Purchasing Policies and Procedures.
The County advertises bids in local newspapers, on the County's website  and on the Vendor's Board in Purchasing.  In addition, bid notices are provided weekly to the Hispanic, Black, American Indian and Asian American Chambers of Commerce as well as Regional Hispanic Contractors Association, Women's Business Council, DFW Minority Business Development Center and National Association of Minority Contractors.
Formal sealed bids are opened in the Purchasing Conference Room at 2 p.m. each Monday unless otherwise stated in the bid specifications.  Vendors are encouraged to attend all publicly opened bids.
Please click here for a bid listing.  (Warning: This list may not be the latest bid list.  Please check with the Purchasing Office.)
Contracts resulting from the formal sealed bid process are awarded by Commissioners Court during their regularly scheduled Tuesday meetings. Vendors are welcome (but not required) to attend. Agendas for these meetings are posted each Friday afternoon at the County Courthouse.
Please note: Original bids and proposals become the property of Tarrant County after the Official Bid Opening.

All current bid notices are posted in the Purchasing Department as well as the Tarrant County website (  For quick access to current bids posted on the website, use the Search Tool (top of the web page) and enter the search term, "Bids / RFPs". In the search results, select the link for Current Bid List to view the entire BIDS / REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS web page. This page is also where you will find copies of previous years bid tabulations (BID/RFP AWARDS).

TVORS (Tarrant Vendor Online Registration System) replaces the paper-based registration system previously used to sign up for bid notification. This self-serve, Web-based, vendor registration system is the principal means for contacting vendors and diseminating important information regarding bid/quotation opportunities and HUB/DBE program updates.  In just a few easy steps, you can manage your company's contact and commodity information to ensure you receive the latest information from Tarrant County Purchasing.

To access TVORS, go to County's website and click on DOING BUSINESS; Bid Opportunities; Vendor Online Registration (Vendor Online Registration).  The four step registration process is described on the right side of the TVORS Welcome page. Be sure to link to the appropriate commodities (NIGP Codes) and business certifications (HUB, MBE, DBE, etc).   These codes and links are critical to receiving updated bid information.

If applicable, forward a copy of your Minority Certification to the Purchasing Department via fax: 817-884-2629 or email:

Please Note:  Failure to maintain in TVORS a valid company email address, Tax/Employer Identification Number and links to the NIGP Codes your company services and provides could result in non-notification of bid and quotation opportunities!

Tarrant County encourages the participation of economically and socially disadvantaged businesses in all areas of procurement.   The County Purchasing Agent serves as the HUB/DBE Officer for the County and is involved in local certification efforts.  To assist the Purchasing Agent in that endeavor is the Tarrant County HUB Program Coordinator.

General Contractors are urged to incorporate, track and report HUB/DBE subcontractor dollars as part of construction projects.
