Chronic Disease Prevention staff

Public Health has teams of trained professionals available to help educate individuals, organizations and communities on a number of health issues as part of the goal of improving health equity across Tarrant County.

The Community Health Promotion program and Adult Immunization Community Outreach program offers the most up-to-date information on current health concerns, and can provide speakers, informative displays and live presentations for groups of any size.

The teams work with local community-based organizations to offer education at mobile vaccination clinics, and can provide services in Spanish, French, Portuguese and other languages.

The Community Health Outreach teams can also provide canvassing services for pop-up mobile vaccination events when requested by the event host.

Methods of outreach can include, but are not limited to:
  • Door-to-door educational pamphlet placement
  • Taking part in townhall and neighborhood association meetings
  • Distributing educational materials at festivals, fairs and other community events

Current Health Concerns

COVID-19

This coronavirus is currently the third leading cause of death in the United States, after heart disease and cancer. There are different ways to protect ourselves from this disease, the most effective way being to stay up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccines.

Monkeypox

Monkeypox is a rare disease in the United States, caused by the monkeypox virus. While this is uncommon in our local communities, the disease has been around for many years in other parts of the world. Because of this, there is much more Monkeypox research than COVID-19 research..

Adult immunizations

Vaccines are not just for kids. They are recommended throughout a person's lifetime. Yet only one in five adults are actually up-to-date on all the vaccines they should have. Because adults are also vulnerable to many diseases, we encourage everyone to get all of the safety net vaccines currently offered.
