The Deferred Prosecution Initiative (DPI) is designed to give first time offenders a second chance with sobriety through deferred prosecution, an alternative approach to traditional criminal prosecution.
DPI is available to offenders 25 years of age or older at the time of the offense. The offender must not have been previously convicted or supervised for a Class B offense or above, and is willing and able to rehabilitate him or herself.
