    Precinct 2 Warming Stations and Closures

    The following cities have established Warming Stations for residents in need of respite from the cold and/or power to recharge electronics.

    The City of Arlington

    • The City’s Dottie Lynn Recreation Center at 3200 Norwood Lane will be open from noon to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 16, and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17.
    • The Salvation Army at 712 W. Abram Street is also open as a warming station in Arlington.
    • The Arlington Water Utilities South Service Center at 1100 S.W. Green Oaks Blvd. will be open as an overnight emergency warming station from 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16 to 8 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17 and from 8 p.m. Feb. 17 to 8 a.m. Feb. 18. Parking will be on the north side of the building, where the entrance is also located.
    • Meals and drinks are not provided at either locations, so those who come to either warming station will need to bring the items they need.
    • Transportation will not be provided to these warming stations, so we ask that residents please drive with caution. Via and Handitran services are currently suspended.
    • To protect public health during the coronavirus pandemic, face masks and social distancing will be required at both locations.
    • Please do not bring cots, sleeping bags or other bulky items, as we need to make as much space available for residents in need.
    • Pets are not allowed at either facility. We appreciate your understanding.

    The City of Grand Prairie

    Grand Prairie residents without power are invited to the Ruthe Jackson Center, 3113 S. Carrier Parkway, to warm up. The facility will open at 7 p.m. and remain open 24/7 until weather improves. Masks and social distancing inside the facility will be required. If the facility reaches capacity, visits will be limited to two hours.


    • Transportation will not be provided, please drive with caution. 
    • Since we are limited in space, pets will not be allowed in the facility.  
    • No sleeping bags or cots.  
    • Coffee will be provided, residents may bring their own snack.

    The City of Kennedale

    The Community Center (at the Kennedale Public Library at 316 W 3rd Street) if open for people needing a warming station and/or a place to charge phones, etc.

    If residents would like to bring cots, pillows, blankets, or sleeping bags for comfort or sleeping, please feel free to do so.

    The City of Mansfield

    The City has four warming centers for residents without power:

    • The Chris W. Burkett Service Center, 620 S. Wisteria St.
    • The Mansfield Activities Center, 106 S. Wisteria St.
    • St. John's Lutheran at 1218 E. Debbie Lane, 817-473-4889
    • Walnut Ridge (West) in Rendon,7550 Rendon Bloodworth Road.

    For information call 817-728-3609. These centers serve as a temporary warming area for residents to get out of the cold and charge their cell phones. They are not overnight facilities.


    • Transportation to the centers is not provided. Please exercise caution if traveling to the centers.
    • Due to limited space and appropriate resources, pets are no allowed.️
    • Residents are encouraged to bring their own food and blankets.
