The Tarrant County Medical Reserve Corps (TCMRC) is designed to support the existing public health infrastructure in the event of a large scale public health emergency. The mission of TCMRC is to establish a network of local medical and non-medical volunteers who are willing to assist before, during, and after a public health emergency.

Citizen Corps was launched in 2002 to help coordinate volunteer activities that will make our communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to any emergency situation. It provides opportunities for people to participate in a range of measures to make their families, their homes, and their communities safer from the threats of crime, terrorism, and disasters of all kinds. It is one of the several branches of AmeriCorps.
