Administrative personnel oversee the operation of the Medical Examiner’s Office and manage quality control and assurance processes.
Dr. Peerwani is a graduate of the American University of Beirut (MD '76). He completed his residency in pathology at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, and is board-certified in clinical, anatomic, and forensic pathology. Currently he is the Chief Medical Examiner for Tarrant, Parker, Denton, and Johnson counties in the state of Texas and has held this position since July 1979. His academic affiliations include the University of North Texas Health Science Medical Center and Baylor College of Dentistry as a Clinical Adjunct Professor. He is an advocate for child safety and served on the Texas Child Fatality Review Team as an expert in forensic medicine. Dr. Peerwani also advocates for human rights and serves as an expert consultant for Physicians for Human Rights with completed assigments in Rwanda, Bosnia, Indonesia, Cyprus, Afghanistan, and Israel for genocide and human rights violations under the auspices of the United Nations Tribunal.
Tracye Poirier received her B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Arlington and came to the Medical Examiner's Office in 2000 as a Senior Forensic Toxicologist. She also served as a Senior Forensic Chemist before becoming the office's Business Manager. In February 2019, she promoted to her current position as the Technical and Administrative Director of the medical examiner's office where her background in the sciences provides her with unique insight into managing a medical examiner's office. Ms. Poirier earned her M.B.A. degree with an emphasis in Strategic Leadership in April 2010 from the University of Dallas. She is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the Southwestern Association of Toxicologists.
Jody Klann earned a B.S. in Biology from the University of North Texas and a M.S. in Forensic Genetics from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. She has been a forensic DNA analyst since 2000, and is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the Texas Association of Crime Laboratory Directors. Currently, she’s the Quality Manager at the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office in Fort Worth, Texas, where she oversees the Quality Management program for the accredited Medical Examiner’s Office and the full-service Crime Laboratory.
