    Connect with Human Services

    Tarrant County Department of Human Services provides financial assistance, case management, as well as information and referral services to individuals and families in Tarrant County. Those interested in applying should call 817-531-5620, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., and leave basic information requesting a pre-screening telephone interview. A licensed social worker will call you back to complete the interview. Persons who are eligible to receive general assistance are:

    1. the unemployed;
    2. disabled who have no on-going benefits from income; and
    3. recently re-employed, new to job market or those who have employment pending.

    Services available

    • Community Care Services - to meet the needs of aged or disabled Texans who seek to avoid premature nursing home placement
    • Various Medicaid services for the aged and disabled, including nursing home and Medicare beneficiary services
    • Temporary Assistance to Needy Families - temporary financial assistance to families with needy children who are deprived of support because of absence or disability of one or both parents
    • Food Stamp Program - eligible households receive monthly benefits to buy food
    • Medicaid Program for Families and Children - benefits to pregnant women, children and medically needy families
