    Be Mosquito Free

    Ground Spraying Scheduled for
    Unincorporated Northeast Tarrant County

     

    September 1, 2017 (Tarrant County, TX) – Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) has confirmed the presence of West Nile Virus in a mosquito sample collected in unincorporated Northeast Tarrant County.

    The sample is from the area around Blue Sky Drive (map). Weather permitting, TCPH will begin ground spraying efforts in this area on Saturday, Sept. 2, starting at 9 p.m. and concluding by 5 a.m. the following morning.

    In an effort to inform the public, TCPH has issued a notification to neighbors in the area and will continue until the time of spraying. You can find the most current information on our Be Mosquito Free webpage or our Facebook page.

    To date, the department has tested 3,629 mosquito samples at TCPH’s North Texas Regional Laboratory; 235 samples from Tarrant County have resulted positive for WNV – Arlington (33), Azle (2), Bedford (5), Colleyville (15), Crowley (1), DFW Airport (1), Edgecliff Village (4), Euless (17), Everman (1), Fort Worth (38), Grand Prairie (7), Grapevine (12), Haltom City (4), Haslet (3), Hurst (10), Keller (8), Kennedale (1), Lakeside (2), Lake Worth (1), Mansfield (6), North Richland Hills (14), Pantego (11), Richland Hills (7), River Oaks (14), Southlake (3), Unincorporated Tarrant County (13), Watauga (1), White Settlement (1).

    TCPH reminds residents of the importance of taking personal protective measures to safeguard against West Nile Virus. Residents should routinely dump standing water on their property, use EPA-approved insect repellent, and dress in long sleeves and pants.
