Ground Spraying Friday Night in Unincorporated Tarrant County

August 14, 2015 (Tarrant County, TX) – Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) has confirmed a West Nile Virus (WNV) positive mosquito sample in unincorporated Tarrant County.

The positive mosquito sample was collected in Northwest Tarrant County – in the area around Blue Sky Dr. and Elk Horn Ct. (Map).

Weather permitting, TCPH will begin ground spraying efforts Monday, August 17, 2015. Ground spraying will start at 9 p.m. and conclude by 5 a.m. the following morning.

In an effort to inform the public, TCPH has issued a notification to neighbors in the area and will continue notifications throughout the weekend.

TCPH has also updated the WNV Interactive Map on the department’s Stop West Nile Virus webpage.

To date, the department has tested 2,927 mosquito samples at TCPH’s North Texas Regional Laboratory since seasonal surveillance began on April 1. A total of 184 samples have tested positive – Arlington (26), Azle (1), Benbrook (2), Colleyville (3) Crowley (11), Edgecliff village (3),  Euless (6), Fort Worth (53), Grand Prairie (3), Grapevine (3), Haltom (3), Hurst (7), Keller (1), Kennedale (5), Lake Worth (9), Mansfield (3), N. Richland Hills (11), Pantego (5), Richland Hills (8), River Oaks (2),  Sansom Park (3) and Unincorporated Tarrant County (15), Watauga (1).

TCPH would like to remind residents of the importance of taking personal protective measures to safeguard against West Nile Virus. Residents should routinely dump standing water on their property, use repellent, and dress for dusk to dawn.

TCPH has compiled a list of ways You Can Protect Yourself.
