    Ground Spraying Scheduled for Friday Night in Unincorporated Tarrant County

    Ground Spraying Scheduled for Tuesday Night in Unincorporated Tarrant County

    September 9, 2015 (Tarrant County, TX) – Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) has confirmed the presence of West Nile Virus (WNV) in a mosquito sample collected in an area of unincorporated Northwest Tarrant County.

    The sample is from around Yucca Flats Tr. and Tapatio Springs Rd. ( Map ).

    Weather permitting, TCPH will begin ground spraying efforts Friday, September 11, 2015. Ground spraying will start at 9 p.m. and conclude by 5 a.m. the following morning.

    In an effort to inform the public, TCPH has issued a notification to neighbors in the area and will continue notifications throughout the weekend.

    TCPH has also updated the WNV Interactive Map on the department’s Stop West Nile Virus webpage.

    To date, the department has tested 3,522 mosquito samples at TCPH’s North Texas Regional Laboratory since seasonal surveillance began on April 1. A total of 296 samples have tested positive – Arlington (33), Azle (1), Bedford (4), Benbrook (4), Colleyville (6) Crowley (17), Edgecliff village (5),  Euless (12), Fort Worth (80), Grand Prairie (6), Grapevine (4), Haltom (5), Haslet (2), Hurst (9), Keller (1), Kennedale (6), Lake Worth (13), Mansfield (5), N. Richland Hills (23), Pantego (7), Richland Hills (11), River Oaks (5),  Sansom Park (5) and Unincorporated Tarrant County (24), Watauga (3), Westover Hills (5).  

    TCPH would like to remind residents of the importance of taking personal protective measures to safeguard against West Nile Virus. Residents should routinely dump standing water on their property, use repellent, and dress for dusk to dawn.
