July 8, 2015 (Tarrant County, TX) – Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) has confirmed the presence of West Nile Virus (WNV) in a mosquito sample collected in Southwest Tarrant County - in the unincorporated area around Bucking Bronc Dr. ( Map ).
Weather permitting, TCPH will begin ground spraying efforts Friday, July 10, 2015. Ground spraying will start at 9 p.m. and conclude by 5 a.m. the following morning.
In an effort to inform the public, TCPH has issued a notification to neighbors in the area and will continue notifications throughout the weekend.
TCPH has updated the department’s Stop West Nile Virus webpage.
To date, the department has tested 1,923 mosquito samples at TCPH’s North Texas Regional Laboratory since seasonal surveillance began on April 1. A total of 23 samples have tested positive – Arlington (2), Crowley (3), Fort Worth (6), Grapevine (1), Hurst (1), Lake Worth (1), North Richland Hills (1), Pantego (1), Richland Hills (1) and Unincorporated Tarrant County (6).
TCPH would like to remind residents of the importance of taking personal protective measures to safeguard against West Nile Virus. Residents should routinely dump standing water on their property, use repellent, and dress for dusk to dawn.
