Tarrant County Emergency Managers Briefed on Dallas Ebola Case
October 1, 2014 (Tarrant County, TX) – Emergency managers from across Tarrant County gathered this morning for a briefing on the case of Ebola in Dallas County. Tarrant County Public Health (TCPH) led the meeting, which was hosted by Tarrant County Emergency Management and the City of Fort Worth.
Those in attendance included representatives from EMS, law enforcement, healthcare facilities, area hospitals and local municipalities.
Emergency managers and healthcare providers were asked to follow already established Ebola procedures, set in place by the CDC earlier this summer.
If there is a suspected case of Ebola, healthcare providers are instructed to report it immediately to TCPH, which provided a 24-hour hotline.
At this time, TCPH remains in contact with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Texas Department of State Health Services and Dallas County Health and Human Services.
“We are closely monitoring the Ebola case in Dallas. There are no cases or known contacts in Tarrant County at this time,” says TCPH Health Director Vinny Taneja. “We feel confident that residents in our community are safe.”
“Our team will continue to seek out the most updated information so we can to ensure the health and safety of everyone in Tarrant County. We intend to relay that information to the public through our website,” said Taneja. “We are prepared for any changes in the situation.”
TCPH has compiled a bulletin of useful information on Ebola. You can find more information HERE.
