    Tarrant County reports eighth West Nile virus-associated death

    (Tarrant County, Texas) . Tarrant County Public Health today reports an eighth death associated with West Nile Virus (WNV). The death involved a Fort Worth resident in his 50's, with underlying medical conditions.

    Everyone is at risk of being affected by West Nile virus, but people age 50 and older are at a higher risk of developing a severe WNV infection. West Nile Virus symptoms include flu-like illness, with moderate to high fever (102 degrees or more), severe headache, severe muscle ache or joint pain, severe eye pain, mental changes, fatigue, nausea and respiratory symptoms. People with symptoms should check with their physician.
