Tarrant County Diabetes Collaboration
(TCDC) is a non-profit organization that was established in
1997 after the Tarrant County Public Health Department and Texas
Agricultural Extension Service of Tarrant County (now Texas Agri-Life
Extension Service) partnered to develop a community-based approach to
address Type 2 Diabetes among people living in Tarrant County.
TCDC's focus has changed over the years, based upon the needs of the community. Currently, the collaboration is made up of volunteers who are Certified Diabetes Educators, nurses, dietitians, and health educators, who work for Tarrant County Public Health, JPS, social service agencies, advocacy groups, pharmaceutical and device makers, and volunteers who want to make a difference in the community.
The collaboration offers free monthly classes to the community. The classes are taught by CDE’s or other healthcare professionals. Speakers for the classes have included UNT Health Science Center School of Pharmacy, local doctors, representatives from the YMCA, The American Heart Association, and the American Diabetes Associaiton.
All classes are held at the Snow Room of the Marion Brooks Public Health Building located at:
