Press Release – webDealer

We are excited to announce that Tarrant County has processed over one million webDEALER applications.  In a statement by Jeremiah Kuntz, Director of the Vehicle Titles and Registration Division with Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, on July 13, Tarrant County has achieved “the exciting milestone of processing their one-millionth webDEALER application!  The title application was approved on July 13, 2020, for a 2018 Ford F-150 sold by Five Star Ford.”

As noted by Kuntz, the webDEALER application streamlines the title and registration process between our office and licensed motor vehicle dealers.  The application first began rolling out to dealers in 2014.  Since that time, salvage vehicle dealers and used vehicle dealers have been added.

WebDealer is an internet-based system that allows dealers to process transactions when it is convenient for them without having to come to the Tax Office for title transfers.  Dealers upload the title documents and payment is made via ACH, making it even more convenient for the dealers and the Tax Office.  The Tax Office won an award from NACO in 2018 for its ACH Debit Template Project.

Wendy Burgess, Tarrant County Tax Assessor-Collector, credits the hard-working Tax Office Staff under the leadership of Motor Vehicle Director Dorothy Starr.  Starr is a 27-year veteran of the Tax Office, having worked her way up through all levels of the organization.  “We could not have accomplished this without the diligent efforts of Dorothy Starr and the Motor Vehicle team.  Their efforts required continuous communications with our Accounting Department, led by Anita Kibbe, the staff at TxDMV, county auditors, and others committed to the success of the project.  We appreciate the support of Tarrant County dealers who gave their full support and cooperation to the project.”

“I am proud of the work done every day by the Motor Vehicle staff.  This is one final accomplishment that reflects years of dedication and anticipation while working toward the lofty goal of a million,” said Burgess.  Starr is set to retire later this year.
