Tarrant County, TX – Tarrant County Public Health and Commissioner Andy Nguyen have partnered with the local Asian American Community to form Partners In Health, in an effort to bridge the gap between available healthcare resources and the underserved Asian American population in Tarrant County.
Partners In Health is working to build a sustainable outreach to the Asian American Community through monthly or bi-monthly events, information media sessions and other focused initiatives.
Their first event will be held on February 28 at the Vietnamese Community Tet Festival at Asia Times Square. The group will gather in the Grand Ballroom from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Attendees will be asked to complete a brief survey. They will also receive a pamphlet of information directing them where to go for general checkups, along with a list of recommended screening procedures.
Partners In Health aims to encourage, educate and inform the community regarding preventative care and regular check-ups. The group also plans to provide resources for those with and without insurance.
Being a member of the Vietnamese American Community, Commissioner Nguyen understands the importance of healthcare education within the community.
“Building trust, fostering familiarity and access to translation services should be a priority for all healthcare providers seeking to properly serve this community,” states Nguyen.
Those who complete the survey will receive incentives for their participation.
