FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 26, 2015
Following today’s ruling by the United States Supreme Court
requiring states to “license a marriage between two people of the same
sex,” the Tarrant County Clerk’s office has been advised by the
Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s office that the Supreme
Court opinion mandates that the Clerk proceed with issuing marriage
licenses to all persons who qualify, regardless of their sex.
Until the Texas Bureau of Vital Statistics issues a new Application for Marriage License form that follows the Supreme Court ruling, the Tarrant County Clerk will continue to use the existing form when issuing licenses to people of the same sex.
The Clerk’s office will immediately issue marriage licenses to same sex couples at all locations, including Tarrant County Sub Courthouses and the Downtown Plaza Building between the normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Location addresses can be found at http://access.tarrantcounty.com/.
