No Refusal campaign for the Super Bowl weekend

Tarrant County is implementing a “No Refusal” campaign for the Super Bowl weekend. The initiative will begin at 9:30 p.m. Friday, January 30, and run until 5:30 a.m. Monday, February 2. During these hours, participating police agencies will use search warrants to take blood from people arrested for driving while intoxicated who refuse to take a breath or blood test.

This marks the third time that a “No Refusal” program has been executed on Super Bowl Sunday and the first time it has been extended to cover the entire weekend.  Last year, there were 15 DWI arrests during Tarrant County’s Super Bowl Sunday “No Refusal” operation. These Tarrant County “No Refusal” campaigns are funded by a $311,933 grant and include all major holidays, plus Super Bowl Sunday and Stock Show weekends.
