Veerinder Taneja, the county’s new health director, was officially
welcomed today by the Tarrant County Commissioners Court.
Taneja has more than 13 years of public health experience. He previously served as Deputy Health Officer and Acting Director of the Wayne County Health Department in Michigan.
He earned his medical degree (MBBS) from Manipal Academy of Higher Education in India, and his Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Eastern Kentucky University.
“We are pleased that Veerinder Taneja has accepted our offer to become the director of Tarrant County Public Health,” said County Administrator G.K. Maenius. “We know his enthusiasm for his profession will be infectious and will contribute to the high quality of service already being delivered by the department.”
Taneja succeeds Lou Brewer, PhD, who served as the county’s health director for 14 years. Brewer retired in May 2014.
