The Tarrant County Commissioners Court appointed Ron Wright as Tax Assessor-Collector during a special called meeting Friday.
Wright was appointed to replace Betsy Price who resigned to run for the office of Mayor of Fort Worth. The current term expires at the end of December 2012.
The Arlington resident is currently serving as Chief of Staff to U.S. Congressman Joe Barton. He served on the Arlington City Council from 2000 to 2008, including the last four years as Mayor Pro Tempore.
Awards Wright has earned include Volunteer of the Year, Man of the Year for Community Service, Hero of the Homeless Award, friend of Education Commendation, the Partnership Award from the Fort Worth Area Builders Association and the Arlington Historical Society Award.
Mr. Wright will not assume the office until he is sworn in later this month. Two bonds, one with Tarrant County and the other with the State of Texas, must be approved before he can be sworn in.
