Our success starts with a strong and effective educational system.
My team and I work to collaborate and support the goals of our
educational institutions. We aim at fostering an environment at home
that champions higher education and promotes vocational training as a
viable option for the workforce of the future. We also partner with
key stakeholders in efforts to eliminate any barriers to successfully
completing an education.
Tarrant County Precinct 2, and other state and local agencies including Arlington ISD are developing a plan to combat truancy. This pilot program is in its third year and the data shows tremendous progress being made in educating families and children on the importance of attending school every day, on-time. Future goals include developing a replicable program in districts throughout the county.
Our office is partnering with the Arlington Historical Society, the
City of Arlington, and several community leaders and volunteers on an
important historic project. The purpose of the project is to ensure
the preservation of the Arlington Heritage Cemeteries and safeguard
the historical integrity of Arlington and Tarrant County. This project
aims to restore proper respect to those who led the way, generate
educational opportunities on the historic significance of the cemetery
and those buried there, and create a community gathering place to
learn about our rich and culturally diverse heritage.
Tarrant County holds an annual back-to-school roundup every August to aid economically disadvantaged families throughout Tarrant County. Families who qualify are encouraged to pre-register for this event which includes free school supplies, haircuts, immunizations, school uniforms, and other services – everything needed to get students ready for school! There are several pre-registration sites throughout precinct 2. Check the Back to School Roundup website for this year’s locations.
In addition to our annual town hall meeting, my office communicates with constituents regularly through weekly updates (emailed on Monday morning of each week), quarterly newsletters, and social media. Businesses, nonprofits and other organizations are encouraged to email our office with information of interest to the public. We will include this information in our publications as space allows. If you wish to receive my publications or have something of interest to include, please email my office at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also like my Facebook page or follow me on Twitter.
Annually, I hold a town hall meeting on a topic of public interest. Subject matter experts present pertinent information and answer questions. In addition, my staff is always available to assist constituents with issues of concern.
